Benefits of being in Christ

A new creation

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (2 Corinthians 5:17- NIV)

Redeemed

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins. (Ephesians 1:7 - NIV)

Saved

Therefore he [Jesus] is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. (Hebrews 7:25 - NIV)

Free from condemnation

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1 - NIV)

At peace with God

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1 - NIV)

Sealed with the Holy Spirit

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 1:3 - NIV)

Made righteous

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21 - NIV)

Enriched in every way

For in him you have been enriched in every way - in all your speaking and in all your knowledge. (1 Corinthians 1:5 - NIV)

Made complete

You are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. (Colossians 2:10 - NKJV)

Seated in the heavenly realms

And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:6 - NIV)

Fruitful

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." (John 15:5 - TNIV)

Blessed with every spiritual blessing

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. (Ephesians 1:3 - NIV)

When things go wrong

The righteous may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers them from them all. (Psalm 34:19 - TNIV)

Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them. (Psalm 126:5-6 - TNIV)

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights. (Habakkuk 3:17-19 - NIV)

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 - NIV)

When anxious or afraid

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10 - NIV)

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear. (Psalm 46:1-2a - NIV)

When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me? (Psalm 56:3-4 - NIV)

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7 - NIV)

When feeling weak

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. (Psalm 73:26 - NIV)

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31 - NIV)

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13 - NKJV)

When you don't know what to do

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6 - NIV)

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2 - NIV)

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. (James 1:5 - NIV)

When God seems far away

The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. (Psalm 145:18 - NIV)

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39 - NIV)

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are - yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:15-16 - NIV)

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5 - NIV)

When lonely

A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. (Psalm 68:4-6 - NIV)

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. (1 John 1:7 - NIV)

"If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever - the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you." (John 14:15-17 - NIV)

When discouraged

Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the LORD. (Psalm 31:24 - NKJV)

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. (Psalm 42:11 - NIV)

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:58 - TNIV)

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 - NIV)

When depressed

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. (Psalm 27:14 - NIV)

To you, O LORD, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy...You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever. (Psalm 30:8,11-12 - NIV)

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18 - NIV)

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. (Psalm 147:3 - NIV)

Deciding what is right

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119:105 - NIV)

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. (John 14:26 - NIV)

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. (James 1:5 - NIV)

When facing temptation

"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." (Mark 14:38 - NIV)

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. (1 Corinthians 10:13 - NIV)

Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. (Ephesians 6:11 - NIV)

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. (1 Peter 5:8-9 - NIV)

When you have sinned

For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. (1 Peter 3:18a - NIV)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 - NIV)

My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense - Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. (1 John 2:1-2 - NIV)

When it's hard to have faith

Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. (Romans 10:17 - NIV)

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3 - NIV)

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:23 - NIV)

When facing trials and persecution

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. (Psalm 23:5 - NIV)

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (Hebrews 12:2-3 - NIV)

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (James 1:2-4 - NIV)

Blessed are those who persevere under trial, because when they have stood the test, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. (James 1:12 - TNIV)

When concerned about the future

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11 - NIV)

[Jesus said:] "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (Matthew 6:34 - NIV)

[Jesus said:] "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me." (John 14:1 - NIV)

Assurances of God's love

"The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing." (Zephaniah 3:17- NIV)

Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD'S unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him. (Psalm 32:10 - NIV)

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16 - NIV)

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! (1 John 3:1a - NIV)
